      Categories

Updated on Fri Aug 07 2026

Categories organize related posts and help editors and visitors browse a focused subject area. Keep the category list small, distinct, and understandable.

      Open Categories

      1. Go to Dashboard → Posts.

      2. Select Categories in the post management navigation.

The navigation displays the current category count. The post list also provides a category filter.

      Create a category

      1. Open Categories.

      2. Select the control for adding a category.

      3. Enter a concise category name.

      4. Complete any available address, description, or parent-category fields.

      5. Save the category.

Use a category only when several posts will share it. For a one-off topic, use the most relevant existing category.

Assign a category to a post

      1. Create or edit a post.

      2. Open its category setting.

      3. Select the best matching category.

      4. Save or publish the post.

Prefer one primary category unless the product and editorial policy explicitly support multiple categories.

      Rename or reorganize categories

Before renaming a category, search the post list with that category selected to understand its impact. After the change, verify the public category page and any navigation links that point to it.

      Category naming guidelines

      • Use reader-friendly nouns or short noun phrases.

      • Avoid two categories with overlapping meanings.

      • Keep capitalization consistent.

      • Avoid internal project names unless visitors recognize them.

      • Do not use status words such as “Draft” or “Old”; statuses belong to the publishing workflow.

      Verification notes

      • Confirm whether categories support descriptions, parent-child relationships, editable URLs, deletion, and reassignment of affected posts.

      • Confirm the safeguard used when deleting a category that contains posts.
