Use a custom report when a standard report does not answer the required question or when you need a reusable combination of filters and columns.
Go to Dashboard → Reports.
Select Create custom report or Build a report.
Choose the available data area or report starting point.
Add the dimensions, metrics, filters, and columns needed for the question.
Run the report and validate several rows against the source workflow.
Give the report a descriptive name and save it.
Begin with one clear question, such as “Which active learners have made no progress in the last 30 days?” Include only fields needed to answer that question.
Define the population, time period, filters, and calculation before sharing the result. Avoid mixing course-level and learner-level measures without explaining how they relate.
Use names that state the audience and purpose.
Document non-obvious filters.
Review saved reports when course structures or metric definitions change.
Archive or replace duplicates.
Test scheduled reports after editing their saved definition.
Confirm the custom builder's data areas, available metrics, visualization options, save behavior, permissions, and duplication workflow in the live builder.
